This is a rare little globe. The 7″ orb is not a common choice for most American globe manufacturers and, as a result, these rarely come to the market. This is not the fanciest model Replogle ever made but it has charm in spades.
The glass orb sits on a simplified metal base and is held in place by fitted nuts. There is no meridian for this model and it is not designed to spin freely although it sits loosely enough to easily turn in the base. One of the more unique features is a blue marble that acts as a finial at the north pole. These are often missing.
Based upon post-WWII borders, this particular globe dates to 1946-47 as Pakistan (1946) is visible but Israel (1948) has not yet been created.
The Globe is in very good condition for its age. There are zero holes in the map and only minimal wear is visible. The original glass finial is intact. The colors are rich, details crisp, and the light is warm and inviting. There is some color difference between gores but its minor; please see pictures. The base is in good condition with no pitting or rusting. The original cord is still functional but can be replaced with a modern twisted cloth cord for an additional $20 on request.
Exceptionally well packed; this globe will ship domestically for $20.00 or $50.00 to Europe.
