Framed Photo of Belgian Memorial Dedication

Framed Photo of Belgian Memorial Dedication

Sometimes you pick up an old photo and get lost in the image and just have to know more about it. This was one of those times for me, and luckily I was able to quickly determine the exact event that was being shown. Very rare to get this lucky!

The photo was taken on May 27, 1923 in Tirlemont (now Tienen), Belgium. The town was dedicating the statue at the center of the photo to the memory of the fallen soldiers of World War One.

There are some really fantastic details in the photo from the people hanging out of windows, to the town elders and military officers in the center to the banner on the right that reads, "Hulde .... Cesneuvelde Helden" which roughly translates to Tribute to Fallen Soldiers.

Both the frame and the photo are in excellent condition.

Frame measures 14" x 12" and the photo measures 9" x 6.5"
