Encyclopedia Britannica, Ninth Edition; 1878

The Encyclopedia Britannica - A Dictionary of Arts, Sciences, and General Literature - Ninth Edition was printed in New York by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1878. The books are leather bound and feature marbled ends and decorative end papers. They are a very handsome set. There are 25 volumes in total with one being an index. The books are filled with illustrations, maps, formulas, equations and much more.

There is a bookcase that the books fit on nicely that can be included if you are picking them up. Otherwise, I do not think it will be practical to ship the case.

The books are in good condition for their age. The insides are all clean with no tears or spoils that I have seen. The bindings are tight on all copies. However,  four of the volumes are missing the leather on their spines. These four books are still structurally sound.

Each book measures 11"x8"x3" and weighs roughly 5.5 lbs.

*Shipping will be charged after the books have been boxed, measured and weighed. Please select "Local Pick Up" at check out and we can arrange shipping separately.
