A complete package, this artifact also comes with it’s original box and pamphlet. Originally produced by Replogle for the National Geographic Society, this model was offered as a gift with a paid subscription to the magazine. An elegantly designed translucent acrylic stand offers a very mod look and is completed with a “cap” designed as a tool to measure distances, magnify details and more. This design was exclusive to National Geographic. Viewing the exceptionally detailed map, this artifact offers more than a traditional model. Not just political borders are displayed but also important now historic, then current events, including peace treaties and more. One would not find a more detailed world displaying the world of 1965. Being produced at the height of the Space Race era, the legend also provides manned Space Flight tracking stations. Description: The 12 inch diameter orb itself is made of pasteboard and offers an exceptionally detailed map. Cradled in an acrylic stand with top, the globe displays at a total height of about 16 inches. Condition: Exceptionally well preserved, the orb is bold in colors ,details are crisp. There is no yellowing or cracks to the acrylic. Booklet shows age appropriate wear as does the box. Absolut museum quality. Age has been determined on political borders displayed as well as the cartouche on the globe identifying the year 1965 as does the postal stamp on the box.
