The globe then is mounted into a cast iron Sea Serpent on a bed of waves with the tail fin holding it in place. When illuminated, the Sphere provides a wonderful and intimate ambiance. Offered as “The Dolphin” (copies of the original catalog advertisement are included), this post WW2 era globe is an exquisite piece of Art. Rarely obtainable, it can usually only be viewed in museums, such as the Globe Museum at the National Library of Austria. Oceans are in a rich yellow color. The mounting is in form of a sea serpent, made of cast iron with copper and bronze finish that sits on a fruitwood base. The light and wiring are all functional and in good working order. Diameter of the orb is 10.5 inches with a total height of about 13 inches. Overall, incredibly well preserved with only some minor wear. There is a thin vertical slit where the light comes through a little bit but no holes in the map.
