An excellent example of the American Machine Age movement, this post WW2 Globe is a superb piece of the Cram's production. Quite handsome, clean and minimalistic, this artifact offers dramatic history to discover. View the world as it was during the Cold War, with a recently created Israel. The base consists of hollow spun metal finished in bronze and copper, offering a masculine look and feel. At 10 inch diameter and total height of 14 inches this artifact this artifact has a presence of understated elegance. When illuminated, the orb provides a warm, intimate glow. Lighting is indeed functional via a pull chain. Illuminated, handcrafted glass globes as this one were created for only a short period, from the mid 1930s through the 1950s. Eventually plastic was discovered and replaced the hand crafted glass and paper orbs. Overall in well preserved condition, the orb offers a perfect vintage patina. Some scuffing is visible when illuminated and there are discolorations present,yet the map is crisp in detail. The base is well preserved, some chipping of the finish but no corrosion or cracks.Its reasonable pricing reflects the condition.
