AJ Nystrom's Simplified Landform Globe; Circa 1950

AJ Nystrom's Simplified Landform Globe; Circa 1950

$185.00

This simplified landform globe has a very functional cradle design in which the globe can be removed from the base. (The slots on the base suggest there was some type of horizon ring but I have not confirmed this yet) Exceptionally well made by AJ Nystrom, a company that prides itself in producing well constructed globes. Nystrom was founded in 1903, and formed a partnership with W & AK Johnston of Scotland who produced all their early gores.

The 12 inch globe is well maintained and removable from its cradle style base. The map displays borders that help date the globe to just after the war. Israel (1948) is shown but Korea (1954) and Vietnam (1954) have not split up yet. The bold colors of the map identify various landforms such as mountains, plains, and ocean depth and currents. Additionally, the map shows basic political details. Some minor soiling and scuffing throughout (one must remember it was a school globe!). Total height is about 15.5 inches with a total diameter of 12 inches.
