1962 Military Navigational Training Aid (Prototype) with Rand McNally Globe

1962 Military Navigational Training Aid (Prototype) with Rand McNally Globe

$595.00
This very space-age looking contraption appears to have been created in 1962 as an educational tool to assist the teachings of celestial navigation. Utilizing a 1950s Rand McNAlly tin globe with retro graphics, most of the apparatus is constructed of metal and a clear plastic dome to which lettering has been applied. The lettering refers to the Celestial Equator, Zenith Dist. and Polar Dist. among other. The structure has a diameter of 18 inches and height of 14 inches. It is quite heavy. The outer ring represents a compass ? Note the text, identifying a project question and the individual who had produced this artifact. Based on all information gathered we believe this training aid was used by the Military (US Navy) for navigational education. We are not sure what purpose the three additional contraptions are for. Regardless, If you are looking for an interesting decorative conversation starter or wish to educate yourself on charting through the celestial skies, this artifact is certainly one of a kind! $595 — Item : 513NAVRAND62 - SOLD
