World's Fair Globe Bank; Circa 1933

World's Fair Globe Bank; Circa 1933

$95.00

Everybody loves a globe bank; especially one this rare! They are small enough to fit in any collection and the fill the gaps perfectly between your larger globes! This is the only silver ocean tin bank globe I’ve ever come across and it was made in anticipation for the 1933 World’s Fair in Chicago. Details on the map point to a little earlier than the date of the fair; Central Australia is shown and it only existed until 1931.

The orb is made of hollow spun tin with a lithographed map. It sits on a base that shows a few impressive buildings and the phrase “World’s Fair Bank.” Diameter of the orb is about 4 inches with a total height (including base) of 6 inches. The globe is in average condition with just a few minor dings and some surface rust; colors are brilliant, details crisp. The plug at the bottom is missing.
