A splendid 1949 illuminated Glass Globe inspired by the Rockefeller Atlas Statue in New York City

A splendid 1949 illuminated Glass Globe inspired by the Rockefeller Atlas Statue in New York City

$995.00
Finished in bronze and copper over cast metal, the majestic artifact stands 23 inches tall with a 12 diameter of the orb. Depicting a post world war 2 era, the map identifies a Germany before its division. Israel has just been created and Pakistan is visible as well (1948-47). When illuminated, this handsome statue offers an intimate ambiance. Individual, hand applied paper gores over a glass orb reminds one of a craft from the past. The Atlas has aged well; minor scuffing of the finish is present but no corrosion. The light is functional; the walnut base could use a buffing but is overall well preserved.. The map itself offers a perfectly aged patina with minor imperfections (wrinkles, scuffing) Exceptionally rare, this object d'art can also be found at the National Library of Austria Globe Museum. This is more than just a fine investment; we are offering an heirloom for generations to come. A splendid Art Deco Artifact for the disconcerting collector. Secure, domestic shipping will be $23.00. Please inquire for international shipping. $995 — Item #: 0114CRATL49 - SOLD
