A magnificent 1949 Sea Serpent
This is without a doubt one of the most magnificent Globes ever produced by American Globe Maker Crams.
A superb Art Nouveau styled artifact, romanticizing the era of Nautical Explorers, sailing the seven seas, sharing tales of mystical ocean creatures….
This exceptional masterpiece is testament to the refined art of globe making., a craft of the past. Paper gores have been hand-applied to a glass orb. The globe then is mounted into a cast iron Sea Serpent on a bed of waves with the tail fin holding it in place. When illuminated, the Sphere provides a wonderful and intimate ambiance.
Offered as “the Dolphin” (copies of the original catalog advertisement are included), this post WW2 era globe is an exquisite piece of Art. Rarely obtainable, it can be viewed in museums, including the National Library of Austria.
Being a desirable collector’s item, this globe is seldom available to be sold publicly or in auctions, especially in its exceptionally maintained condition.
With this artifact we will also provide a facsimile of the original catalog advertisement for this model.
Politically one can view the world as it rises out of the ashes of World War 2. Israel is a newly created State (1948) though Korea is not yet divided at the 38th Parallel (1953)
