A true witness of the Cold War Era in design as well as political borders displayed.
The globe is mounted into a non numbered full meridian, attached to a solid, heavy walnut base. The base has a very fluid and clean design, the meridian has a polished metal finish. The following insignia is embossed: MADE IN GERMANY WEST- WERKSTUDIO JUGENHEIM.
Diameter of the globe is about 7” with a total width (mounting incl.) of 9” and a total height of 10.5”. The globe can be illuminated and is functional. It was made for the US market; all language is in English.
Overall in superb condition, yellowing to the equatorial band of the lucite orb. Minor scuffing to the base. No rust, cracks or any other form of damage. Very well preserved.
The age of the Globe has been based on the display of political borders:
Germany is divided into East and West.
Sri Lanka is still displayed as Ceylon. Vietnam is divided into North and South.
South Rhodesia has become Rhodesia.
