MId Century Cram's 12 Inch Celestial Globe
MId Century Cram's 12 Inch Celestial Globe
With its superb 60ʹs style base, this 12ʹʹ Cramʹs Celestial Globe is quite a unique space-age styled model! Featuring a bold blue horizon with cool silver and warm yellow details, this model will catch anyoneʹs attention.
Celestial Globes are not as common as Terrestrial Globes. Because of a lack in demand, Celestial Globes had not been as mass-produced as their counterpart. Instead they were primarily fabricated for the educational market. This celestial sphere would be a great addition to any globe collection, especially if you already own the terrestrial version of this model!
The orb is made of fiberboard, covered with paper representing the celestial sky. Constellations, including the 12 zodiacs are identified as well as individual stars, the Milky Way, nebula and-or clusters. The sphere is mounted into a full meridian made of metal and finished in a matte gold. The cradle style base is also made of metal which allows the globe to be removed. The horizon band (part of the base) has paper laminate that identifies the calendar as well as zodiacal information. Total height is 17 inches with a diameter of 12 inches of the globe itself, total diameter incl. horizon ring of about 16 inches.
This globe is in pristine condition; museum quality! The colors are vivid and details are crisp.
