Petite French Terrestrial Globe by J. Forest
Petite French Terrestrial Globe by J. Forest
$545.00
This petite globe from celebrated French maker, J. Forest, has an impact far beyond its diminutive size. The cartography has been distilled down to only the most pertinent details and colors to ensure legibility at this small scale. They developed the right mix of color, detail, text, and information. The presence of both Leningrad (changed from Petrograd in 1924) and Constantinople (becomes Istanbul in 1930) narrows the range to 1924-1930. The absence of Central Australia (1926-1931) cements the date as 1925. It was an era largely of peace and prosperity but the political climate in the world was rapidly shifting and would soon result in the Great Depression and the rise of Fascism in Europe.
