At a commanding size of 18 inches in height, this terrestrial sphere will demand attention wherever displayed. The handsome, cast iron fleur de lis detail adds elegance and substance, while the hollow spun metal base adds height and Art Deco style. The sorb itself is mounted into a very heavy, cast iron full meridian, sharing the world of circa 1935. The dawn of WW2 is present as the Japanese Empire has occupied the Manchurian region in China, re-naming it Manchoukuo, yet Europe is still calm... Description: A 12 inch diameter pasteboard orb is mounted into a cast metal full meridian. This sits in a cast iron fork with fleur de lis detail, attached to a hollow spun metal half moon base. All is finished in a dark bronze, brown with gold accents. Total height is 18 inches. Condition: The artifact is in good condition for its age but does show wear in form of soiling, scuffing and uneven patina throughout. Yet details are crisp and visible. Some fading to the colors. Meridan and base are in very good condition, no damage or corrosion but minor scuffing. The age of the Globe is based on political borders displayed, which are as follows: Europe A pre WW2 Europe is visible. Germany has not yet annexed Austria (1938) Middle-Far East: Manchuria is occupied by Japan (1931-45) Persia has changed to Iran (1935). Saudi Arabia is still identified as a kingdom.
