Included with this model is also the original ”WORLD-O-FUN” globe guide booklet, filled with info related to the world and universe as well as games and puzzles related to the subject and very cool drawings! We are thrilled to offer you this complete set! In the 1950’s Reploge ventured out into producing a few unique tin globes, such as the model offered in this auction as well as a Magnetic Air Race Globe Game and the Surprise Globe. With these neat and colorful models the manufacture attempted to compete with well-known Children’s Tin Globe makers such as J.Chein and Ohio Art. However, Replogle did not make these Children’s models for very long. It is difficult to locate a model as this one in functional condition, as they had to endure (and survive!) child’s play... The globe is made of a hollow metal orb with lithograph map and mounted into a full meridian which is also made of metal as is the base. The entire mounting is finished in a fire engine red. The base houses the booklet. The WORLD-O-FUN (what a great name!) booklet explains everything related to globes, from the history to why the moon circles the sun to understanding of the Universe. Quite interesting! Subject related games and very cool drawings are also included. The exterior of the booklet has suffered though the interior is well preserved (with the exception of the water stain). With a total height of 9.5 inches, this model is the perfect conversation starter once placed on a book shelf.
