1950s Globe Lamp with Mystery Map
1950s Globe Lamp with Mystery Map
$125.00
This funky desk lamp incorporates a tin globe with litho map, more likely made by J. Chein (USA).
As we had mentioned in our guide to dating globes, some globe maker did not do well in keeping up with political changes. The globe on this lamp is a perfect example:
It shows a post WW2 Europe and displays Israel in the Middle East (created in 1948), yet it also offers the state of Central Australia (1926-31) and Korea as well as Chinese mainland to be occupied by the former Japanese Empire.
Not just unusual in design but also within it’s map, this globe lamp is certainly a most unusual Novelty!
