A 1941 Arts & Craft styled Floor Globe
A 1941 Arts & Craft styled Floor Globe
$345.00
Advertised as The Lewis in an original Globe maker catalog, the description of this artifact continues as follows: "The delicate but sturdy appearance of this Globe with its solid Walnut stand makes it especially suitable for small rooms where space is at premium". Originally offered for $9.00 in 1940, this model was affordable to affluent middle class society.
The baluster turned walnut base has a classic Arts& Craft styled base with a traditional green finish and provides a desirable ambiance of understated elegance. Colors are rich and warm in tone, a beautiful patina aged to perfection in spite of some wear to the map. Political borders displayed on this globe represent c 1941, an interesting time line highlighting the dawn of WWII.
At a total height of 34 inches and diameter of 12 inches, the artifact will not demand too much on space, but certainly your attention. A fine compliment to the Arts & Craft and Mission style movement.
A facsimile copy of the original advertisement will accompany this model.
