A 12" Crams Silver Oceans c1936
$645.00
A desirable 12” terrestrial Globe by the George F. Cram Co. c 1936 with silver oceans and machine age flair.
Because of courage to experiment with different design and materials, the George F Cram Company offered some of the most unique globes of the early 20th Century.
Highly regarded by collectors’ world wide, this stunning globe with silver oceans is one of Cram’s finest pieces.
The production of silver models lasted for only about 10 years and halted in the 40’s due to difficulties with maintaining the silver color. To find such a globe is challenging, to obtain one in good condition is pure luck .We’ve got lucky with this one!
Minor wear in form of rubbing, otherwise brilliant in color, crisp in detail with a beautiful mounting in superb condition.
This specific model is very unique as it shows the political borders of 1935 but indeed was produced in 1936. The cartouche indicates Indianapolis, Indiana to be the location of the manufacture. Crams did not re-locate its production to Indiana until 1936.
Political borders detailing the change of Persia to Iran (both shown), Italien East Africa not yet visible.
