Catholic Charity Globe Bank

Catholic Charity Globe Bank

$78.00

Everybody loves a globe bank! They are small enough to fit in any collection and the fill the gaps perfectly between your larger globes!

This is one that doesn’t show up very often. It was made for The Society For The Propagation of the Faith, a Catholic charity founded in the early 1800’s. Continents are shown in block colors associated with the races that live there. Some of the text might not be PC today, but there’s nothing too offense either.

This American Map Company globe bank shows the world shortly after World War II. Israel (1948), Indochina (1954) Central African Federation (1953-63) and Anglo-Egyptian Sudan (changed in 1956) help focus in the age range of the globe to 1954-55.

The orb is made of hollow spun tin with a lithographed map. It sits on a red base with the motto of the charity spelled out. Diameter of the orb is about 5.5 inches with a total height (including base) of 8 inches. The globe is in good condition with just a few minor dings and surface rust; colors are brilliant, details crisp. The plug at the bottom is missing.
